Specialist Shot Blasting for Steel Containers & Storage Structures
We are specialists in shot blasting services for steel containers and large storage structures. Our skilled team uses advanced blasting techniques to remove rust, old coatings, and surface contaminants from shipping containers, fuel storage tanks, and other steel units. We focus on restoring strength and preparing containers so they're ready for repainting, recoating, or long-term reuse.
A manufacturing facility required restoration of large industrial mixing containers that had accumulated years of paint, coatings, and surface contamination. The containers needed complete surface preparation to restore structural integrity and enable food-grade coating application.

Heavy paint buildup and rust on exterior surfaces

Multiple coating layers hiding structural condition

Overall contamination preventing proper inspection
The containers showed extensive surface contamination with multiple layers of industrial coatings, paint buildup, and surface rust. The heavy contamination prevented proper structural inspection and made the containers unsuitable for food-grade applications.

Clean bare metal with uniform surface profile

Ready for food-grade protective coating
Complete transformation to clean bare metal with uniform surface profile. All contamination removed, revealing sound structural condition. The containers are now ready for food-grade coating application and will provide decades of reliable service in the manufacturing facility.
Multiple layers of industrial coatings and heavy contamination preventing structural inspection and food-grade certification.
Systematic shot blasting to remove all contamination while preserving structural integrity. Careful attention to interior and exterior surfaces.
Complete restoration to clean bare metal, enabling food-grade coating and extending service life by 20+ years versus replacement.
We begin with inspection and masking, then protect surrounding areas with sheeting and seals to control dust and debris. Careful planning and procedures guide every project, ensuring a controlled, compliant working environment.
Using the correct media and pressure for the substrate, we remove corrosion and old coatings without compromising the steel. Where specified, we prepare to recognised cleanliness grades such as professional cleanliness (near-white metal) for optimum primer adhesion.
On completion, we carry out a meticulous clean-up: collecting residues and waste, leaving the area ready for repainting or recoating as required. This handover aligns with our emphasis on industry-leading clean downs.
Follow these steps to ensure your project runs smoothly
Contact us to arrange a free site visit. We will inspect the container, assess the extent of corrosion and coating failure, and provide a written quote for the work.
Ensure the container is positioned so our team can access all external surfaces — ideally with at least 2 metres clearance on all sides. For internal blasting, confirm the container doors can be fully opened and secured.
Empty the container completely before our arrival. Remove any loose debris, standing water, or contamination from the interior. A clean, empty container allows us to work safely and efficiently.
Mark or photograph any areas of heavy corrosion, previous repairs, or weld seams that require particular attention. Share this information with our team at the start of the job.
Coordinate with a coating contractor to apply protective paint or primer immediately after blasting. Steel surfaces will begin to flash rust within hours — prompt coating is essential for a durable result.
