Surface preparation for large marine, waterside and high-corrosivity steelwork
Commercial Shot Blasting plans marine and waterside surface preparation around the asset, access, containment, handling and the next coating stage. The current ADE Power Wakefield project shows large enclosures blasted and primed to the stated Marine CX standard before moving into the flipping stage.
We review the asset, working area, access constraints and the available coating requirements to define a practical blasting scope.
Containment, protection of adjacent work and debris controls are planned around the actual site conditions and project requirements.
Accessible steelwork is prepared to the agreed project requirement using the selected method and controls.
The preparation, handling and coating-handover sequence is coordinated with the project team so the next agreed stage can proceed.
Before blasting: Heavy marine corrosion, biofouling, old antifouling, mill scale
After blasting: Sa 2.5 or Sa 3 cleanliness; 60–100 µm profile for epoxy or antifouling systems
Marine environments are the most corrosive (C5-M). Only abrasive blasting to Sa 2.5 or Sa 3 achieves the cleanliness and profile needed for high-build epoxy and antifouling systems with 5–10 year dry-dock intervals.
Large enclosures at ADE Power in Wakefield have been blasted and primed to the stated Marine CX standard and are now being flipped.
See the project photos and handling footage, then use the record to plan access, containment, handling and coating handover for a similar commercial enclosure package.

Yes. We can review the enclosure, access, working area, handling requirements and the available coating information to plan the blasting scope and the handover to the next project stage.
No. CX is an ISO 12944 atmospheric corrosivity category. The required blast-cleanliness grade, profile range, test method and handover controls are set by the project coating specification.
Useful information includes photographs or drawings, approximate dimensions, site and access information, the coating system or product data sheet, handling arrangements and the preparation and coating sequence where known.
